The Krayzie Midwinter Backyard Ultra starting on 26 June 2027 is a last person standing event based at Spencer Park in Christchurch.
The Backyard Ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must consecutively run the distance of 6.706kms in less than one hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is used to recover and replenish for the next hours race. The race finishes when one person completes one more lap than anyone else.
This is a self-supported event where you provide all your own food and fluid requirements. Refer to the event website for full details.

“I really loved the early laps. Particularly when people were coming back into the chute about to time out and there was a massive crowd cheering them on. Loved the supportive fellow entrants there was lots of good chat and good behaviour. Well informed with the newsletters leading up to the event. ABSOLUTELY loved the supportive race staff and volunteers. Felt it was really well run and appreciated every detail of how you managed the race, had the setup in the lodge and the really wonderful thoughtful gift at the end (and my spot prize!), and the photography.”
