The Old Ghost Ultra Marathon on 21 February 2026 is run entirely on The Old Ghost Rd, New Zealand's longest continuous single-track, located near Westport on the West Coast of the South Island.
Touted as an ultra-marathon to 'test the best', competitors will face more than 2600 metres of cumulative elevation gain and will have 17 hours to complete the course, with the fastest expected to finish in as little as 8 to 9 hours.
The Old Ghost Ultra is a creation of the not-for-profit Mokihinui-Lyell Backcountry Trust (MLBT) - the community group that built The Old Ghost Road.
